| One: With 18" wheels and the smaller profile tires, you wont really feel it sagging too much or driving that bad if/when the tire goes flat or loses pressure. I had tires go flat on the freeway two times (both rears) and neither time did I feel it until the damn thing start separating. Both times, as you found out, the wheel was fine and the tire managed to stay "in place" for the most part. Two: That separation, as others have said, is exactly what happens and happened to me both times to varying degrees. It really depends how long you are driving on it. One time it took me quite a while to get over and it completely separated and the other I pulled over pretty quick and it was 80% detatched. So yeah, not very far off the normal except your root cause might have been that patch (but Guap already gave you shit for that) ;) Glad you're okay!
